Personal Note From Kathleen

Thank you for wanting to learn more about Bushel & Peck Backyard Blooms. I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m Kathleen, the owner of Bushel & Peck. This farm is not just my livelihood, it’s my lifelong dream come true. Since opening in 2023 and moving to our permanent farm in 2024, the community has embraced my business and flower farm more than I could ever imagine.

Whether it’s at one of our events, a photo shoot or a you-pick, I hope to see you soon!

Rooted in Story

Bushel & Peck Backyard Blooms is a labor of love for owner Kathleen Linville.

As a child, Kathleen spent countless hours digging in the dirt with her grandfather, bonding over special varieties of heirloom tomatoes. From that experience, Kathleen learned a love for the land and cultivating from seed.

2023

After many years growing different varieties of plants, Kathleen discovered that her true passion lay in cut flower gardening. In 2023, Kathleen transformed her small backyard garden in West Huntington into a flourishing cut flower garden.

From Backyard to Flower Farm

It was from this backyard garden project that Bushel & Peck Backyard Blooms was born, specializing in pre-cut arrangements and build-your-own bouquets at farmer’s markets. After the success of that first summer, Kathleen began to brainstorm how she could grow her business into her dream - a cut flower farm.

2024

In 2024, Bushel & Peck Backyard Blooms expanded to a new location, which now features nearly 10 acres, anchored by the sprawling flower field at the center. Kathleen lives on the property with her husband and business partner, Tyler, their two children, two Great Pyrenees, one cat and a gaggle of ducks.

More Than Just Flowers

Bushel & Peck is proudly pesticide-free. Our backyard flower farm is a safe oasis for pollinators, including Monarch Butterflies and honey bees.

Our small but mighty flock of ducks protects our crop from pesky pests. You’ll find the ducks in the field, snacking on bugs that would otherwise threaten the flowers.

We’ve also planted milkweed throughout our property - a vital host plant for Monarch Butterflies to lay their eggs. Next time you’re on the farm keep an eye out for milkweed plants.

If you look closely you may spot caterpillars munching away in preparation for their transformation into butterflies!
